Meet Clara Troutman:
Recipient of The 29th Elijah Straw Helping Hand Award
Clara Troutman: Recipient of the 29th Elijah Straw Helping Hand Award
The Elijah Straw Memorial Fund and the entire Straw Family were honored to present O'Hara Elementary School second grader Clara Troutman with the twenty-ninth Elijah Straw Helping Hand Award for her exceptional friendship, kindness towards others, overall good citizenship, and most of all, for embodying the core values ("Respect, Responsibility, Integrity") of O'Hara Elementary School. Clara received a certificate of merit and a Barnes & Noble gift card! The Fund will also be donating to the charity of Sofia's choice an amount equal to the B&N gift card in Sofia's name.
Ms. Fanning, Clara's teacher and nominator, has this to say about her:Â
Clara is uncommonly kind to [ everyone ] at school. She is always the first to volunteer to help out another person. She wrote a poem about being kind and shared it with the class when some friends’ feelings were hurt . . . She makes sure to include everyone in games and activities . . . She always puts others first, no matter who they are.
Kudos to you, Clara! We look forward to seeing what you pick up at Barnes & Noble!
