Meet Lydia Tuthill:
Recipient of The 12th Elijah Straw Helping Hand Award
Lydia Tuthill: Recipient of the 12th Elijah Straw Helping Hand Award
The Elijah Straw Memorial Fund and the entire Straw Family were honored to present O'Hara Elementary School 5th grader Lydia Tuthill with the twelfth Elijah Straw Helping Hand Award for her exceptional friendship, kindness towards others, overall good citizenship, and most of all, for embodying the core values ("Respect, Responsibility, Integrity") of O'Hara Elementary School. Lydia received a certificate of merit, a Barnes & Noble gift card, and additional gift cards to Aspinwall Beans 'n Cream (school is out of session, so she couldn't have the traditional pizza party!).
Lydia Tuthill recently celebrated a birthday at Paint Monkey, and much to our honor, she forgoed receiving gifts at her party and instead asked for donations to the Elijah Straw Memorial Fund! We were surpised at this great news but not at all surprised about the person behind it: Lydia was a schoolmate of Elijah's and is an all-around great kid. Lydia and her friends raised over $200 for the fund, and the Straw Family thanks her and all her guests for their thoughtfulness and generosity!
And as you can see below, Lydia and friends make some pretty darn good artwork, too:
The Straw family is both honored and humbled that Elijah had such beautiful and caring friends and schoolmates as Lydia. Lydia's kindness has had a profound affect on the Straw family, and in the form of her contribution, she will continue to positively impact the greater Aspinwall community!
